There’s a new outlaw in town—Outlaw Distillery, the award-winning craft distillery from Utah, has officially taken over Adventurous Stills, a beloved Tempe-based distillery known for its handcrafted, grain-to-bottle spirits. The ownership transition was finalized on May 30, and the location at 2125 E. Fifth St., #102 has now been rebranded under the Outlaw name.

Adventurous Stills had been a fixture in Tempe’s craft spirit scene since 2015, offering guided tours, small-batch spirits like the fan-favorite Peralta Bourbon, and hosting whiskey tastings, pairing events, and hands-on workshops. After overcoming a fire-related closure in April 2024 and reopening that fall with renewed energy and new offerings, the distillery was once again on the rise—making it a prime opportunity for the next chapter.
Now under the leadership of Tyler Halstead, Outlaw’s owner and head distiller, the Tempe location joins the original Outlaw Distillery based in Sandy, Utah, which has been crafting small-batch spirits since January 1, 2015. Outlaw is celebrated for its grain-to-glass approach, sourcing ingredients from local Utah farmers to produce a bold lineup that includes bourbon, honey bourbon, spiced rum, coffee rum, and moonshine—many of which have earned national awards.
Halstead collaborated closely with Adventurous Stills founder Kelly Lattig to ensure a smooth handoff while maintaining the integrity of the space and its loyal following. The 2,500-square-foot Tempe facility includes both a working distillery and a welcoming tasting room, where guests can enjoy spirit flights, signature cocktails, and behind-the-scenes tours.
To celebrate the new chapter, Outlaw Distillery is hosting a grand reopening party on June 21, featuring food trucks, a live DJ, and plenty of pours for new and returning fans alike.
