23nd Annual Walk to Save Animals Celebrates 50 Years of Stayin Alive

September 12, 2021

PHOENIX – Get groovy with the Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL), Arizona’s oldest and largest no-kill shelter, as they present the 23nd annual Walk to Save Animals on Saturday, November 6. The theme, “50 Years of Stayin Alive” is an homage to the inception of AAWL in 1971 as the nonprofit celebrates its 50th anniversary and over 100,000 animal lives saved. The 70’s themed walk will include all of the fun of walking with friends, family and coworkers, plus visiting local vendors. The event starts at 8 a.m. at Tempe Town Lake.

Activities at the event include: the clinic corner with free health supplies for pets, a fun activity play zone, pictures with Santa, designated shopping zones for people and pets, interactive photo stations and a beer garden for adults from Walter Station Brewery. To keep the community safe, AAWL will be practicing social distancing and encourage all unvaccinated guests over the age of 5 years old to wear masks in crowded areas.

The Walk to Save Animals is AAWL’s largest annual fundraiser, bringing together a community of people and dogs to raise funds for the thousands of homeless and medically in-need animals the shelter rescues across Arizona. By registering to participate as an individual or team, you are helping end animal homelessness. Funds raised at the event help AAWL save more than 4,000 animals at risk of euthanasia, provide medical care for sick or injured animals, deliver behavior training to dogs in need, and so much more.

Sign up now to receive $10 off registration before September 30. Prices increase October 1. All walkers receive a FREE Walk to Save Animals T-shirt. Additional prizes are available for select fundraising goals.

Walkers can document their journey on social media with the hashtag #WalkToSaveAnimals and #ThisIsHowIWalk
